For example, in American Wilderness, you could have Gus go back through time periods when he goes by the bridge where little George fell.

Epiphanies:
Joyce in Dubliners uses a lot of epiphanies
Instead of a traditional expansive life, shown as a curve, it is six individual epiphanies, connected by lines. so it is more like a geodesic dome than a curve, the circularity is the length of the rays between the epiphanies.
