It is the constitutional duty of Electors to vote their conscience in the Electoral College. After all, it isn’t a rubber stamp.
Any Elector that struggles to vote for Trump can, and should, change their vote to a more moderate Republican. The House of Representatives could then elect a different Republican.
In “What Would Hamilton Do?” I introduced Chris Suprun, a Texas Elector who says he won’t vote for Trump at the college. Today, I looked at the current state of “faithlessness” in the Electoral College, and here is what I found:
COLORADO
Hon. Polly Baca, Denver; has indicated she will cast her vote for an alternative Republican candidate. [NOTE: This is exactly what my post yesterday was talking about.]
Jerad Sutton, Greeley; has indicated he will not vote for Hillary Clinton.
Robert Nemanich, Colorado Springs; has indicated he will not vote for Hillary Clinton.
GEORGIA
Baoky Nguyen Vu resigned and will be replaced by alternate.
WASHINGTON
Peter Chiafalo; this hero is working with other Democratic electors to convince GOP electors to vote for anyone but Trump, preferably Mitt Romney or John Kasich.
Levi Guerra; Has stated she plans to vote for a Republican “consensus candidate.”
Robert Satiacum, Jr. – A member of the Puyallup Tribe; has said he will not vote for Clinton.
TEXAS
Stephen (Chris) Suprun Jr.; wrote in the New York Times that he will not vote for Donald Trump.
Arthur Sisneros — Believes that Trump is not biblically qualified for the Presidency. He resigned.
